C-TPAT Initiatives

As part of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enacted in April 2003 the right to hold and inspect shipping containers, thus the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) initiative was born.

While not a regulation, C-TPAT is a voluntary program for organizations involved in international cargo shipping. By enrolling in C-TPAT, organizations agree to establish a system of security controls that reduce risks to their international supply chain shipments. Basically, companies that establish better security will benefit from less inspections and better shipping times, which will save time and money.

C-TPAT is considered a “self-regulated” program, and DHS allows private companies such as 360° Asset Protection to evaluate whether other private companies have strict enough security programs in place with regard to maritime commerce. DHS does the validations and the initial validation audits can take over a month with inspectors visiting a foreign supplier and domestic operations.

Our services include, but are not limited to:

• assisting in validation/re-validation audits

• designing and conducting training programs,

• designing inspection procedures & forms,

• developing tracking programs and maintaining partner databases,

• conducting on-site assessments,

• conducting reviews with CBP personnel.

We also work with retired CBP personnel to assist in achieving your goals. If you are considering joining the program or would like to improve your chances of re-validation or achieving the next Tier status, call (404-618-0198) or email us (info@360AP.com) today for your free consultation or to learn more.
